Bodega Tapiz is owned by the Ortiz family and grows its grapes in some of Mendoza's most extreme places: the high-altitude San Pablo vineyards in the Valle de Uco, among the coolest and highest in the region. The Alta and Clásico ranges show fresh, honest fruit; Black Tears is the bodega's icon Malbec, and Las Notas de Jean Claude pays tribute to the French winemaker Jean-Claude Berrouet, who long advised the bodega. The same family also makes Wapisa, on the Atlantic coast of Patagonia.
