Proyecto Las Compuertas Cabernet Franc

Proyecto Las Compuertas is the Durigutti brothers' project to protect the heritage vineyards of Las Compuertas, the coolest corner of Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza. Since 2007 they have restored 34 hectares of historic vines, named Finca Victoria after their mother.

This Cabernet Franc comes from an old estate vineyard, selected and replanted at high density on sandy loam with deep river stones. Elegant and well balanced.

Tasting notes

An elegant nose of medium intensity, with ripe green pepper, white pepper and a subtle touch of anise. Round tannins and balanced acidity bring freshness, with ripe red fruit in good balance with the herbal notes.

Winemaking

Vineyard at 1,050 m, organically farmed. Hand-picked and optically sorted, fermented with native yeasts in uncoated concrete eggs, with malolactic fermentation and 7 months of aging in the same eggs. Alcohol 13%. 6,240 bottles. Serve at 15–18 °C. Winemakers Héctor and Pablo Durigutti.
