Lindaflor La Violeta
La Violeta is Monteviejo's icon wine and one of the few Argentine wines sold through La Place de Bordeaux. Only plots 5 and 9 of the Vista Flores vineyard, which best express the elegance, concentration and character of Malbec, are used. Every bunch is destemmed by hand and micro-vinified in 225-litre barrels, and the wine then rests for years in barrel and bottle before release. An extremely limited production with extraordinary aging potential.
Tasting notes
Deep, bright violet. Great aromatic complexity from long aging, while keeping the fruity aromas typical of the bodega's Malbec. On the palate a great balance between acidity, richness and tannins; persistent, with a great bouquet on the finish and well-integrated oak.
Winemaking
100% Malbec from the Valle de Uco, at 1,100 m altitude, on alluvial sandy loam with 70–80% stones. Hand-picked into 12 kg boxes, destemmed by hand, cold maceration at 8 °C for 10–15 days and fermentation in French oak barrels with daily manual pigeage. Aged 24 months in new French oak, followed by 7 years in bottle. Aging potential of more than 20 years. Serve at 14–16 °C. Owned by the Parent family; consultants Michel Rolland and Marcelo Canatella.
